A LEGACY FOR COLOUR

«Colour has been an integral part of my life since childhood, as I was more or less born inside a paint box. In 1963 my father founded the company Lascaux, which produces artist's paints and which I run today. I therefore started painting with his colours at a very early age. What I initially perceived to be two separate professions, painting and management, have in the past few years become ever more intertwined, with colour and my interest in its holistic properties as the connecting link.

My heart's desire is to see man, animal, nature and the cosmos in balance again, which explains my intention to identify and research the organising power of colour and its unifying effect. In order to express this goal in physical form, my husband

and I founded the Foundation Lascaux on 12 December 2004.»

«Of all forms of human expression, art lies closest to my heart. Painting has been my lifeblood since my earliest childhood. Like music and poetry, painting makes me one with the long tradition of the human spirit.

Painting is the language of colour. It talks of light – the light of day, the light of night – and it talks of the light in our hearts which is first illuminated by the wonder of Creation. It is art which, in view of our impermanence, grants us moments of eternity and happiness.

How I wish these clamorous times some moments of peace and true humility.»
